The Draw of Social Internet Applications

why are people so inexorably drawn to social applications on the internet.

its like dad once said, people just love to watch, emulate, and be in the light so others will watch them. we watch reality TV so we can know what other humans are doing and what is accepted. the internet is a bigger reality TV show?

cool blog.

Because humans can't function without community, and we adjust our behavior to meet community standards (most of us) and we fear mot being adequately aware of community standards, so we are drawn to watch, to see what others say about what we see, to understand the limits of acceptable. Anyway, I especially think that is the attraction of shows like "The OC" on 90120 or whatever it was, Laguna Beach... who could really care about the people? But many people, OK, college age or younger, like to watch with friends, to talk about every episode. its all about judging what your community thinks abut all the weird little things that come up... how should we treat "others", how should we shop, talk about money. all that.

Sheese. Now I've got to try to figure out who "the blight" is. I mean, that could be almost anybody. Paul is a blight on the Trese family tree, Shane is a blight on all that is decent and good, Phil is a blight on the landscape of humanity...the list goes on. I myself am a blight to this blog.

Maybe it's one of those Ohio Trese's. Who else would choose a biology term, and a plant pathology term at that?

Didn't you read the rules? I quote "This blog does not allow anonymous comments."
